MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) — Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Trevor Megill has been placed on the concussion list after he reportedly fainted while battling food poisoning symptoms.

Megill, a 6-foot-8 right-handed reliever, reportedly fell victim to food poisoning during the team’s weekend road trip in New York City, according to Curt Hogg, the Brewers beat writer for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

While recovering from the apparent food poisoning, Megill fainted at a Spectrum retail store in Milwaukee during the team’s off day on Monday, according Adam McCalvy, another Brewers beat writer.

Ahead of the team’s game Wednesday, Brewers manager Pat Murphy said it appeared Megill “hadn’t had much in his system.”

“Fell on the ground and hit his head. When he came to he called our people and let them know. We evaluated him the next morning, and he has a concussion,” Murphy explained. “This one’s scary.”

Rep. Lauren Boebert hospitalized with acute blood clot, diagnosed with May-Thurner Syndrome

While the exact details of Megill’s condition are unclear, the Mayo Clinic warns that dehydration is the most common complication of food poisoning.

The Brewers placed Megill on the seven-day concussion list, retroactive to March 31.

“[Megill is] doing OK,” Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold said. “We want to be cautious with those types of things, for sure.”

Megill appeared in two games during the 2024 regular season-opening series against the New York Mets, where he pitched in two separate innings, only allowing two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
