One person dead in overnight Champaign Co. crash

SOMER TOWNSHIP, Ill. (WCIA) — A woman from the suburbs of Chicago has died in Champaign County following a crash Sunday night.

The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. on Leverett Road near Martin Road in Somer Township. Officials with the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation showed that the woman, identified as 33-year-old Molly Zabinski of Palatine, was driving east on Leverett. For unknown reasons, Zabinski’s car crossed the center line and entered the westbound lane.

Her car crashed head-on into a westbound car that was being driven by a 21-year-old from Sidney.
