UPDATE: Man identified in accidental drowning at Chattahoochee River

UPDATE 4/6/24 9:30 p.m.: The Muscogee County Coroner’s Office released the identity of the person who died in an accidental drowning in the Chattahoochee River Saturday evening.

Coroner Buddy Bryan confirmed to WRBL Bishop Davis, 28, drowned. Davis was from Dallas, Georgia.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, a man died following a drowning at the Chattahoochee River Saturday evening.

Crews from Columbus Fire & EMS Station 1 responded to the scene, which was between 13th Street and Dillingham Street. According to Columbus Fire Marshall Division Chief John Shull, the dive and water rescue team conducted an operation to recover the victim.

Bryan says at least 3 people were involved and two of them have been pulled out of the river, presumably alive.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
