One dead and one injured after weekend shooting in area of Macon Road in Columbus

One man is dead and another is injured after a weekend shooting in Columbus, according to officials.

Police said they responded around 11:50 p.m. Saturday to Macon Road near Lakeshore Drive, where they discovered two vehicles that had been shot at.

One person from each car was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to officials. One victim has died, officials say.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as Daryus Bryant, 16. Bryant was pronounced dead at 12:53 a.m., according to Bryan.

The other victim was rushed into surgery, according to police.

This is the 14th homicide in Columbus this year, according to a list compiled by the Ledger-Enquirer.
