One dead after Friday night shooting in Clay County
Apr. 22—One person died in a shooting Friday evening in Clay County.
Dead is Andrew T. Bethel, 29, of Brazil.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office said deputies and first responders answering multiple reports of an altercation followed by shots fired about 7:20 p.m. on Nellie Lane east of Indiana 59 arrived to find one person had been shot.
Bethel was pronounced dead on-site by the Clay County Coroner's Office.
The sheriff's office said this appears to be an isolated incident and there does not appear to be a threat to the general public.
The shooting remains under investigation, and additional information may be released when the investigation permits, deputies said.
