Olympic Gymnast Gabby Douglas Will Judge This Year’s Miss America Competition

Now that the Olympics are over, Team U.S.A. gold medal-winning gymnast Gabby Douglas has a whole new role to prepare for: She's joining the panel of judges at the 2017 Miss America Competition, which takes place next month.

"Miss America has been such an amazing event for so many years and I am excited to have the opportunity to judge the competition this year," she said in a press release. "The contestants are a great example of strong women across America and I especially look forward to hearing the platforms that each of them will represent!"

Douglas herself has plenty of experience standing in front of a panel of judges: The gymnast has won three Olympic gold medals, and is the first all-around Olympic gold medalist in U.S. history to earn a spot on a second Olympic team.

Douglas joins musician Laura Marano, entrepreneur Mark Cuban, former Miss America Sharlene Wells Hawkes, actress Sara Foster, and singer Cole Swindell as celebrity judges for the competition. The Bachelor's Chris Harrison will host the ceremony, and Sage Steele will serve as a co-host.

Watch Douglas take her place in the judges' panel when the competition for Miss America 2017 airs live Sept. 11, 2016, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
