“It’s going to be a really exciting weekend for Oklahoma City,” Mike Knopp, Executive Director of Riversport OKC said.

Many say the perfect weekend doesn’t exist, well Oklahoma City says otherwise.

“Everything’s going on this weekend,” Seth Lewis, Festival of Arts Director said.

From the Olympic trials at Riversport, to the Festival of Arts downtown, and the OKC Marathon on Sunday, Oklahoma City is going to be jumping.

“It is going to be a packed weekend, but it’s a great time to showcase our city if you live here, a chance to be a part of all these really cool opportunities,” Knopp said.

With expectations of large crowds being in different areas downtown, events are preparing.

“It’ll be a lot of traffic, but I think it’ll be manageable,” Knopp said. “We have plenty of parking here at Riversport.”

Even with storms in the forecast over the next couple of days, artist are not putting their paint brushes down.

“Weather is weather, we have umbrellas,” Sharon Spillar, artist said. “Put a umbrella up. Put on your cute little boots, come on out. We’re here and we’re happy.”

For the Olympic trials, rain won’t be an issue, but if storms worsen they have contingency plans in place.

“For Saturday, we could adjust time, start times based on weather conditions,” Knopp said. “Same with Friday, and Sunday’s the contingency. If things are just so bad, you know, it’s really going to come down to storms. You know, lightning, rain shouldn’t scare us off.”

The Festival of the Arts begins at 11 a.m. on Thursday and runs through Sunday.

The Olympic trials at Riversport are happening on Friday and Saturday.

The OKC Memorial Marathon starts with an expo Friday morning, a 5K on Saturday morning and the marathon itself on Sunday.
