Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper suffers minor injuries in Canton Township crash

CANTON TWP. ‒ The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a trooper that occurred Wednesday evening on state Route 800.

Patrol Sgt. Bridget Matt said the trooper was northbound in a marked patrol car, a 2021 Dodge Charger, at 5:36 p.m. when his vehicle was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling southbound on Ridge Avenue and failed to yield at the stop sign.

The patrol car traveled off the left side of the road and hit a mailbox before coming to rest in a ditch.

The trooper was taken to Aultman Hospital in Canton with minor injuries.

The 40-year-old Canton man who was driving the pickup truck suffered minor injuries. He was cleared by medical personnel on the scene and was not taken to a hospital.
