Officer-involved shooting in East Hartford under investigation

The Connecticut Office of Inspector General is investigating an officer-involved shooting in East Hartford on Sunday.

The shooting occurred after officers responded to a disturbance at an auto body shop at 224 Governor St. just before 3:30 p.m., according to Officer Marc Caruso of the East Hartford Police Department.

Caruso said an officer-involved shooting occurred during the incident and led to multiple officers being taken to an area hospital for an evaluation.

“There is no threat to public safety,” Caruso said in a statement.

The Connecticut Inspector General is investigating the shooting along with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad, East Hartford Police Department and the Hartford Judicial District State’s Attorney’s Office.

Caruso said any additional information about the shooting must be released by the Inspector General.
