In a social media post Altus AFB said they are expecting winds up to 57 mph, 1.5 inch hail and the possibility of tornado activity.

On April 15, 27 aircraft from Altus, consisting of the KC-135 Stratotanker, KC-46 Pegasus and the C-17 Globemaster III, departed Oklahoma for Sacramento due to severe weather.

The planes stayed at the former Air Force Base until the morning of April 16 and arrived back in Oklahoma that same afternoon.

The 97th Air Mobility Wing is responsible for training 70% of C-17 Globemaster II, KC-135 Stratotanker and KC-46 Pegasus aircrews for the air force.
