NYPD officer punched, bloody after struggle at East Harlem subway: Cops

EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) – An NYPD officer was punched in the face during an arrest at an East Harlem subway station Tuesday morning, according to police and video obtained by PIX11.

Two officers attempted to arrest a “disorderly” 24-year-old woman at the 125th Street station around 8 a.m. when the woman punched one of the officers, according to the NYPD.

The video shows two officers struggling with a woman near the turnstiles at the 125th Street station. One of the officers’ faces is bleeding as the two cops attempt to put the woman in handcuffs while an onlooker films and yells, “Get off of her.”

Dozens of police officers ran underground to assist. The officer was taken to an area hospital with non-critical injuries. The FDNY confirmed two people were transported to a hospital from the station just before 8 a.m.

Charges are pending against the suspected puncher, police said.

On Monday, a man died after he was pushed on the tracks at the same East Harlem station in what authorities are calling an unprovoked attack.

The incident also took place just one day after NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller was fatally shot in Queens.
