BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Good dog! New York City Councilmember Chi Ossé honored a dog on Wednesday for its service as a rat exterminator.

The dog, named Luna, received a City Council citation.

“We just presented an official citation to Luna the Dog for being New York’s strongest soldier in our war against the rats,” Ossé wrote on X.

Luna has killed over 200 rats, including more than 60 this past year, according to Ossé.

Council members can provide citations and journal letters to recognize persons (or animals) who give exemplary service to their communities. Recognition can be for unique personal achievements or other endeavors like philanthropy and community service.
