NYC, NJ airports’ beer among most expensive in North America: report

NEW YORK (PIX11) — Traveling to and from New York City by air can be expensive, and that’s not just counting how much people pay for flights. New York City and New Jersey are among the most expensive beer out of all other airports in North America, according to a report.

The average cost of a beer in the 50 North American airports is around $8, according to the report by casino.ca. The most expensive beer is $14.92 at Cancún International Airport in Mexico. The second most expensive beer can be found at LaGuardia Airport in Queens for $12.41. And a beer at Guadalajara International Airport in Mexico would cost you $11.30.

The remaining airports in and around the city also have higher-than-average beer prices, with Newark Liberty International Airport charging $9.40 a beer and John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens charging $8.88, according to the report.

So, while you stop during your travels to release those travel nerves, you won’t do your wallet any favors. As for the least expensive beers? Casino.ca said the following airports have the wallet-friendliest beer prices:

  • Portland International Airport: $4.41

  • Salt Lake City International Airport: $5.10

  • Charlotte Douglas International Airport: $5.60
