NWS flood warning issued for Vermilion River in Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The National Weather Service is warning of minor flooding along the Vermilion River as a result of Monday’s heavy rains.
The NWS has issued a Flood Warning for the Vermilion River at Lafayette, Surrey Street Gage, effective until tomorrow afternoon.
The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this morning to a crest of 11.5 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage late tonight. Flood stage is 10 feet. At 11.5 feet, minor flooding of Beaver Park and Vermilionville near the river will occur, according to NWS.
