NWA group advocates for peaceful protest for Palestine amid ceasefire talks

NORTHWEST, Ark (KNWA/KFTA) — Amid ceasefire discussions between Israel and Hamas, a local organization, Friends of Palestine NWA, is working to amplify its message peacefully.

Jesse Buchanan, a member of the organization, said that its weekly protests since the beginning of April have been marked by its commitment to nonviolent expression.

Buchanan said that the group’s objective is to raise awareness about the issues unfolding in Palestine. “Many members of our local community may perceive the situation in distant lands as unrelated to their daily lives,” Buchanan said. “Yet it could directly affect their friends or neighbors.”

“To see young people utilizing their education to discern right from wrong and take a stand is truly inspiring,” Buchanan said. “These events serve as a platform for demanding justice, ultimately fostering an environment where genuine peace can thrive.”

There has been no protest at the University of Arkansas, but KNWA/FOX24 received this statement from the university.
