NOW OPEN: Kendrick High School launches student-run Cherokee Corner Store

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) – The Cherokee Corner Store is now open for business at Kendrick High School.

Alumni and city leaders, including Mayor Skip Henderson, joined students, faculty, staff and the community for the ribbon cutting at noon on Wednesday, May 1.

The store was a dream of former student Orithius Hardge who now teaches Graphics and Communications at Kendrick. Hargde says all proceeds from sales will go back to the students to support such activities as field trips and SAT preparation.

The merchandise sold at the Cherokee Corner store features student-designed are all designed by the students.

“To see students take their designs from the computer to someone walking inside Cherokee Corner buying a T-shirt and then walking out with their design on their back is life changing,” said Orithius Hardge, Graphics and Communications Instructor, Kendrick High School.

The store sells everything from canvas bags to caps to t-shirts and hoodies. Cherokee Corner is open during school hours. Visitors are asked to check in at the school’s office first.

Online shopping will be available soon.
