A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in a town.

The body of a 53-year-old woman was found by emergency services at an address in Nottingham Road, Eastwood, at about 11:15 BST on Friday.

Police say they have arrested a 60-year-old man who remains in police custody.

The force said the incident would cause "shock and concern" but believed it to be an "isolated occurrence".

Det Ch Insp Clare Dean said: "Our thoughts at this time are with the victim's family, who will be supported by specially-trained officers in the days and weeks ahead."
