Not guilty pleas entered on behalf of Arvin sergeant

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Not guilty pleas were entered Wednesday on behalf of an Arvin police sergeant charged with drug and gun offenses.

Defense lawyer Gabriel Godinez appeared for Delia Reyes and entered not guilty pleas on her behalf to a felony charge of drug possession while armed with a loaded gun and two misdemeanor drug possession charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled in May.

Reyes remains out on bail.

She and former Bakersfield police Officer DeAngelo Sanchez were charged last month after search warrants were served in November at three Kern County homes.

According to a probable cause declaration, authorities found a usable amount of cocaine on a tray in Reyes’ bedroom, along with rolled up bills. Reyes said she used cocaine within the past two weeks, according to the declaration.

Sanchez, who lived with Reyes on Alta Peak Court, wasn’t home when the warrant was served. Authorities said there was evidence he was in possession of steroids. He’s charged with two misdemeanor drug offenses and is scheduled for a pretrial conference in June.

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration officials said the warrants were served in connection with two cases: one, the arrest of Francisco Javier Beltran on federal charges of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl; and to gather evidence in an investigation into Reyes by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

Reyes is an associate of Beltran, officials said. Beltran is due back in federal court in Fresno this month.
