Northwest Las Vegas residents concerned graffiti issues could lead to more crime

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Residents in a northwest Las Vegas neighborhood are concerned that graffiti in the area is adding to growing crime.

“The first thing you see is a bunch of writing on the wall and it doesn’t look good,” Northwest Valley Resident, Rafael Munoz-Vega said.

Residents tell 8 News Now it’s an eyesore when entering the Whitney Heights community of Centennial Hills.

“It’s getting worse. We also had the two kids shot here and there has been lots of graffiti in the neighborhood for quite a while,” resident Andy Nelson said. “I’ve caught some people that were putting graffiti marks on the sidewalk area too.”

Nelson is a longtime homeowner, not pleased with how it makes the community look.

“If someone’s looking to purchase a home, what do you think they’re going to think when they first see that,” he shared.

Fellow homeowner Darius Taylor wants it removed immediately. A job he said their HOA should have handled weeks ago.

“It’s hard to look at it,” Taylor said. “I don’t understand; What are we paying the HOA for, if they’re not gonna clean it up.”
