Northside boys basketball team celebrates back-to-back state title wins

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – On Saturday, March 9, the Northside High School boys basketball team celebrated their VHSL boys basketball class 3 state championship over at Bill Pope Gymnasium. The Vikings defeated Lake Taylor 73-58 in the VHSL class 3 state finals to claim back-to-back state title wins.

“You know I think we have some really good players that work very hard care about each other they’re unselfish and I think you can accomplish a lot of things when you have a never say die attitude you’re just going to try the best you can,” said Northside boys basketball coach Bill Pope.

Not only did the team celebrate with family and friends they also cut down the nets over at Bill Pope Gymnasium during the event as well. The Vikings finished the 2023-24 season 28-3 overall, and 11-1 in district play.
