NORTH PORT – The North Port Library at 13800 S. Tamiami Trail, North Port will be closed from May 6-11 so Sarasota County can upgrade the structure's entryway.

During this temporary closure, access to the exterior book return will be unavailable.

Patrons are asked to return borrowed materials to an alternative location or extend their due date by calling 941-861-1110 during normal operating hours.

During the closure, full library services are available at the Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda Library, 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd., Venice; and Shannon Staub Library, 4675 Career Lane, North Port.

“We do our best to prevent our libraries from closing during repairs, but in this case, it could not be prevented,” Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources Director Dr. Renée Di Pilato said in a prepared statement.

“The safety of our patrons and staff has been, and always will be, our top priority."
