North Little Rock police say officer and suspect injured in Wednesday evening shooting

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – North Little Rock police say an officer was shot after responding to a burglary Wednesday evening.

Authorities said officers responded to the 1300 block of Silverwood Trail around 6:19 p.m. for a reported burglary in progress.

NLRPD officials said the officers then made contact with the suspect in the 7000 block of Flintrock Road and during the encounter, shots were fired.

According to police, one officer and the suspect were injured in the shooting. The officer was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Officials said the suspect was also taken to a hospital their condition is unknown at this time.

A release from the NLRPD states that two officers were involved in the incident and both were placed on administrative leave.
