Busy Charlotte intersection reopens after crash involving power lines

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A busy Charlotte intersection reopened around 10 a.m. following an accident involving power lines, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police announced.

CMPD said earlier that drivers should avoid the area. Duke Energy said a vehicle hit a power pole around 2:30 a.m. with crews making repairs. Traffic signals hung low following the wreck.

Inbound and outbound lanes were closed as Duke Energy crews worked on repairs for several hours. The accident was in the Sylvania Avenue area near Graham Street.

Charlotte Medic said they took one person to Novant Presbyterian Hospital for minor injuries.
