North County projects to receive $17M in federal funding

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Some North County neighborhoods will be getting some much-needed improvements thanks to federal funding that’s been allocated to the region.

Rep. Mike Levin (D-49) was joined by others Thursday to talk about the securement of millions in new federal funding.

More than $17 million will be used to improve some communities in the Oceanside and Vista areas.

The John Landes Community Center is on the list to get a long overdue upgrade. This was the site of a news conference Thursday morning.

Some of the funding includes:

  • $1,166,279 to add nearly three miles of managed lanes on I-5 between SR-78 and southbound Harbor Drive (Caltrans)

  • $1,000,000 for Landes Community Center and Park Improvement Project (Oceanside)

  • $850,000 for Emerald Drive Complete Streets Project (Vista)

  • $760,000 for Forensic Technology Advancement and Replacement Project (San Diego County Sheriff)
