North Carolina woman charged with involuntary manslaughter in Montgomery County crash

MONTGOMERY COUNT, Va. (WFXR) — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says a woman from North Carolina has been charged in connection to a deadly crash on April 21.

Just before 7:30 p.m., deputies along with the Christiansburg Fire and Rescue were called to the 2400 block of Riner Road, near the intersection of Smith Creek Road. When deputies arrived, they found two vehicles had collided head-on.

As the investigation continued, deputies learned that 19-year-old Tehya Littlejohn, of Cherokee, North Carolina was driving an Acura toward Christiansburg, when she allegedly crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Ford.

The driver of the Ford was identified as 60-year-old Jeffrey Trimble, of Blacksburg. He died at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office says a passenger in the Acura was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Littlejohn was charged with Involuntary manslaughter by driving under the influence.

She is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says the crash remains under investigation by the New River Regional Crash Investigation Team.
