North Carolina man dies weeks after shooting outside Myrtle Beach-area nightclub

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A person who was critically injured in a shooting at a Myrtle Beach-area club earlier this month has been identified.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office said Jadis Nelson, 22, of Rockingham, North Carolina, died just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where he’d been receiving care since the shooting.

Horry County police said the shooting happened April 7 at about 1:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the 3001 Nightclub on Lake Arrowhead Road. Another person was also hurt in the incident and was taken by a personal vehicle to local hospitals before police had arrived.

“If we could have stopped it before it happened we would have done so. It was between two people that were dead set on killing each other,” 3001 Nightlife owner Roger Davisson posted on the company’s Facebook page after the shooting. “They were shooting at each other and not the club. I am very thankful no innocent customers were injured in the altercation.”

No other information was immediately available.
