NOPD investigates first shooting of April in French Quarter

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened in the French Quarter.

According to NOPD officers, around 12:11 a.m. on Monday, April 1, they were alerted about a shooting in the 500 block of Esplanade Avenue.

Pedestrian killed in Tangipahoa Parish crash

An investigation revealed, the victim was walking on Esplanade Avenue when another man approached him and an argument began.

During the argument, officers say the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and fired shots at the victim striking him once in his chest.

Upon arrival, officers said the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment by EMS and the suspect was arrested.

No further details are available at this time but the NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.
