No fuel leak on fishing boat run aground in St. Lunaire-Griquet, Coast Guard says

The Canadian Coast Guard says a boat that ran aground in the community of St. Lunaire-Griquet is not leaking fuel.

The longliner crab vessel, the FV Indian Lady, was grounded on the rocks near Griquet Harbour on the tip of Newfoundland's Northern Peninsula on Thursday.

St. Lunaire-Griquet Mayor Dale Colbourne told CBC News on Thursday night that no injuries were reported.

In an emailed statement on Friday, coast guard communications advisor Heather Kirby said the CCGS Pennant Bay has assessed the vessel. The boat had approximately 1,000 litres of diesel fuel on board, the statement said, but the tank isn't leaking.

Kirby wrote the owner of the vessel is in the process of removing the fuel from the boat.
