Niagara Falls police cruiser collides with 2 other vehicles while responding to call

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — No one was seriously injured when a police cruiser crashed into two other vehicles in Niagara Falls Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m., an officer was headed east on Niagara Falls Boulevard, responding to a call. While passing through the red light at 80th Street, his car struck a northbound vehicle in the intersection before proceeding to hit a westbound Jeep.

The officer and the 86-year-old driver of the first vehicle were taken to an area hospital for evaluation. The third driver, a 44-year-old man, denied medical treatment.

Officials said the officer involved is an eight-year veteran of the department. The Niagara Falls Police Department’s crash investigation unit is investigating the matter.
