After a lucky winner in New Jersey matched all six numbers on March 26 to win the $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot, lottery players looking to win big have turned their attention to the Powerball.

No one has won the game's jackpot since January, which has grown the Powerball jackpot to an estimated $935 million.

Wednesday night's draw did produce an Arizona winner for a small (not so small) prize of $1 million. A ticket matching five winning numbers was sold Wednesday at a Safeway on Bell Road in Sun City.

What are the Powerball payout options?

If you win the Powerball jackpot and are deciding on how to cash in, you should know you have options.

There are two payout options:

  • Paid in full over time.

  • Half the amount upfront.

With the first option, the jackpot amount is spread out over 30 years as an annual payment. With the latter, the winner receives just over half that amount as a lump sum payment.
