NewYork-Presbyterian, Aetna reach deal to keep health system in-network
NewYork-Presbyterian hospitals and health providers across the Hudson Valley will remain in-network for patients with the Aetna health plan after a contract dispute was resolved.
The health system and insurer struck a deal that ended weeks of tense negotiations leading up to a March 31 deadline to renew their coverage contract. Both sides had previously warned patients that talks had stalled due to disagreements over how much Aetna pays NewYork-Presbyterian for care provided to Aetna members.
In a statement to patients, Dr. Brian Donley, NewYork-Presbyterian's chief operating officer, noted the health system understood "the last few weeks of this negotiation may have created frustration and uncertainty." The health system and insurer also issued a joint statement noting there will be no interruption to patient care related to the new contract. They declined Wednesday to disclose terms of the deal.
