Neighbor Rescues People From Burning Home in Eastern Pennsylvania
A man rescued his neighbors from a home on fire in Minersville, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, April 14.
The hero, identified as Oscar Rivera, “saved a woman and an elderly man from a burning building all while risking his life as his young children stood at the door watching,” said Janeen Huth, who came across the scene on her way home.
Huth captured the rescue on video. In the footage, thick smoke can be seen escaping from the house as Rivera pulls a man from the top floor window. A woman can be seen on the neighboring house’s roof.
“Grab his pants!” Huth can be heard screaming to Rivera as he struggled to pull the resident out.
Minersville Mayor Sean E Palmer thanked Rivera for rescuing the two people, as well as Fire Chief Mike Melochick and volunteer firefighter Luke Heffron, for helping everyone down.
