Neighbor with garden hose slows spread of structure fire in Gun Barrel City, officials say

GUN BARREL CITY, Texas (KETK) – A structure fire in Gun Barrel City was slowed down by a neighbor with a garden hose until officials were able to respond on Wednesday.

According to a the Gun Barrel City Fire Department (GBC FD), on Wednesday at 5:29 p.m. they responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of Tanglewood Loop. According to a statement, upon their arrival they located a fire in the back room of a residence.

The GBC FD assisted by the Mabank Fire Department and the Payne Springs Fire Rescue reportedly brought the fire under control quickly because prior to their arrival, a neighbor used their garden hose to slow the spread of the fire and reduce the damage done to the home.

The fire department reported that there were no injuries as a result of the fire.

Officials said that the American Red Cross is assisting the homeowner and the fire is under investigation by the Henderson County Fire Marshal’s Office.
