Nearly 1/2-mile of busy Wichita street closing Tuesday

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A nearly one-half-mile stretch of a busy north Wichita street is closing.

Starting Tuesday, 37th Street North from Hydraulic to Ohio Street will shut down for construction. The busy stretch of road passes underneath Interstate 135 in north Wichita, provides access to a variety of manufacturers and warehouse spaces, and sees heavy truck traffic daily.

Crews will begin a milling, patching, and asphalt overlay project that is expected to be finished by late May. The work zone will be active from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the project is complete, weather permitting.

As shown on the map below, traffic will be diverted south on Hydraulic or Ohio down to 29th Street North. Access to eastbound Kansas Highway 96 remains closed due to bridge construction.
