NBC News is planning to drop Ronna McDaniel. Wonder how that happened...

Puck News reported Tuesday that NBC News plans to axe the ex-RNC chair after facing an on-air revolt from network personalities.

The public pushback from employees began almost immediately.

McDaniel’s first appearance on NBC since her hiring occurred on Sunday’s “Meet the Press.”

“In full disclosure to our viewers, this interview was scheduled weeks before it was announced that McDaniel would become a paid NBC News contributor,” host Kristen Welker clarified right away. “This will be a news interview. And I was not involved in her hiring.”

After her interview aired, NBC News Chief Political Analyst Chuck Todd, appearing on the “Meet the Press” panel, said to Welker, “I think our bosses owe you an apology for putting you in this situation.”

“Look, there’s a reason why there’s a lot of journalists at NBC News uncomfortable with this, because many of our professional dealings with the RNC over the last six years have been met with gaslighting, have been met with character assassination,” Todd continued.

Starting Monday, MSNBC hosts began expressing similar sentiments on their programs about their parent company’s decision, including Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, Nicolle Wallace, Lawrence O’Donnell, Joy Reid, Jen Psaki, and Rachel Maddow.

“I want to associate myself with all my colleagues, both at MSNBC and at NBC News, who have voiced loud and principled objections to our company putting on the payroll someone who hasn’t just attacked us as journalists, but someone who is part of an ongoing project to get rid of our system of government,” Maddow said on her primetime show.
