National Weather Service: Tornado near Valles Caldera gets ‘unknown’ EF rating
SANDOVAL COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – The National Weather Service (NWS) provided an update on a tornado that touched down in the Jemez Pueblo Saturday.
NWS said the tornado caused little to no damage, so its EF rating is designated as “unknown.” The elevation for the tornado was recorded at 8,150 feet above sea level. Viewer Jamey Bryant sent KRQE News 13 video that showed the tornado near Valles Caldera.

Tornadoes are extremely rare for that area. Official records show that there have been 10 reported in Sandoval County since 1883.
