National Weather Service confirms EF-1 tornado touched down in Kaukauna

KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WFRV)—The National Weather Service in Green Bay has confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down in Outagamie County on Tuesday night, damaging trees and buildings.

Confirmed as of 6:55 p.m., the National Weather Service in Green Bay says the tornado hit the village of Kaukauna with winds up to 95 miles per hour.

NWS: Two EF-1 tornados touched down in central Wisconsin during severe weather outbreak

The tornado damaged structures on Buchanan Road and Bicentennial Court between 8:57 and 9:01 p.m. on Tuesday night.

In a survey summary, the National Weather Service says a tornado developed along Buchanan Road, southwest of the village of Kaukauna, snapping trees and producing isolated structure damage to the garages of a couple of homes.

The tornado quickly tracked northeast, producing scattered tree damage, mainly with broken branches and pockets of uprooted trees. Just before the tornado lifted in Central Park along the Fox River, it produced structural damage to the roof of an apartment building along Bicentennial Court. A large healthy tree was snapped at this location as well.

Additionally, the National Weather Service had confirmed two other tornadoes in Edgar and in Unity, both located in Marathon County.

Kaukauna seeing lots of damage after severe storms rip through Wisconsin

The EF-1 tornado in Edgar reached speeds of 90 miles per hour, while the EF-1 tornado in Unity reached speeds of 105 miles per hour.

Crews are continuing to survey damage throughout the other portions of the state that received heavy storms. In total, Tuesday night’s weather produced nine tornado warnings and 11 severe thunderstorm warnings in northeast Wisconsin.
