Nashville crews search for person in the water at Percy Priest

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — First responders spent several hours searching Percy Priest Lake for a person who went into the water Saturday evening.

Metro Nashville dispatch said multiple units from the Nashville Fire Department were sent on a water rescue operation after a potential drowning was reported by Goose Island shortly before 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.

According to the Nashville Office of Emergency Management (OEM), an adult jumped in to rescue a child who went under the water. Even though the child was reportedly saved, crews spent Saturday evening looking for the adult, dealing with the challenges of choppy water due to the strong winds.

A member of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) told News 2 that multiple officers were on scene near Nashville Shores for an individual missing in the water.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m., officials told News 2 the search was about to wrap up for the night, but personnel from Nashville OEM and the TWRA are set to resume their efforts at 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 28.

No additional details have been released about the circumstances surrounding the incident that led to the search.
