Naked man in creek prompts water rescue response in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A naked man in Crabtree Creek prompted a water rescue response from the Raleigh Fire Department Friday morning, according to officials.

According to the department, a call came in right before 8 a.m. Friday after someone heard a yell for help along with splashing water in the area of Crabtree Boulevard and N. King Charles Road.

The fire department launched their boats and water rescue units along with ATVs, but didn’t find anyone after searching up and down the creek for over an hour. Raleigh police were also on scene assisting and launched their drone to help with the search.

The man was eventually found around 9:45 a.m., and Raleigh police tried to coax him out of the water.

Neighbors told a CBS 17 crew on scene that the water in that part of the creek is shallow and not deep enough to drown in.

Raleigh fire said the man left the water on his own and was transported to a hospital by EMS out of an abundance of caution.
