On the season premiere of the CW’s Supergirl, Lena Luthor unveiled a “Girl of Steel” statue right before submarine missiles attacked National City and caused destruction among a crowd of Supergirl fans.
One fan, in particular, was a young girl accompanied by a mysterious and beautiful woman, who went into full-blown protective mother mode once mayhem struck and discovered an ability to crush steel with her bare hands. After rescuing her daughter from underneath the heavy piece of steel, viewers were left wondering: Who is she?
It didn’t take long before fans realized that this new character, played by Odette Annable, is known as Reign, one of Supergirl’s most fearsome villains in the DC Comics. But don’t expect to see villain-Reign just yet. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg recently said in an interview, “When we meet Reign, she’s just a woman. Her name is Samantha and she’s a single mom, and she has no idea that she is Reign; she has no idea that she was the baby in the pod at the end of last season.”
