Murder suspect charged in shooting death of woman on Morris Road

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A man already in jail was served new charges related to a shooting death on Morris Road in Columbus, according to the Columbus Police Department.

Tobias Gibson has been charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

On Monday, April 15, at about 12:49 a.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to the 800 block of Morris Road. Upon arrival, they discovered Jakesa Josey dead at the scene.

INITIAL REPORT: Victim identified in homicide investigation at Columbus trailer park

Josey succumbed to her injuries after being shot. Deputy Coroner Elizabeth Allison pronounced the Josey dead at 1:28 a.m.
