Multiple rounds of rain, thunderstorms today; Strong storms possible in afternoon

Apr. 17—There will be multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms today that will trail off this evening, accompanied by gusty winds and warm temperatures.

A round of thunderstorms this morning will be followed by a stronger round of storms in the afternoon.

There is a chance for severe weather from 2 to 5 p.m. along and north of Interstate 70. The primary threats include damaging winds and large hail. A tornado cannot be ruled out, according to National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Local heavy rainfall could cause isolated flooding, the NWS said.

The high for today will be near 75 degrees and it will be breezy with gusts as high as 34 mph.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms continues tonight, mainly before 8 p.m. Clouds will then start to decrease to partly cloudy. it will remain breezy, with gusts up to 24 mph and an overnight low around 53 degrees.

Thursday will be sunny with a high around 76 degrees.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm is in the forecast Thursday night, which will have an overnight low around 53 degrees. There is another chance for strong, damaging winds overnight Thursday and into Friday morning.

The best chance for strong strorms is in the Tri-State area, acccording to NWS.

Showers will continue early Friday with a thunderstorm possible before 8 a.m. It will be cooler with a high near 64 degrees.

Friday night will be mostly cloudy with an overnight low around 44 degrees.

Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny but cooler with a high near 57 degrees.
