Multi-vehicle crash closes busy road near State College shortly after rush hour

One person was treated for minor injuries Tuesday after a five-vehicle crash that snarled rush hour traffic on a busy road near State College, borough police said.

One of the vehicles involved was a school bus that had no children aboard, police said. A driver was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center and two vehicle were towed, police said.

At least two lanes of East College Avenue were closed about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday near the exit ramps for U.S. Route 322 in College Township. A driver attempted to turn left at a red light and set off a reaction of small crashes, police said. The road reopened about an hour later.

The driver is set to be cited with traffic violations, police said. The Alpha Fire Co. was among the agencies that assisted.
