How much did it rain yesterday in Wisconsin?
Rain began Monday morning in southwestern Wisconsin and made its way into the Milwaukee area by mid-morning.
Showers continued on and off throughout the day and into the night. Milwaukee received about 1 inch of rainfall in the past day, according to National Weather Service data.
Precipitation chances remain high in southern Wisconsin through Tuesday evening, though rainfall will be light in the Milwaukee area. Only about 0.1 inches of additional rain is in the forecast, though more is possible if thunderstorms occur.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible from late morning through early afternoon over south-central and southeastern Wisconsin, NWS says.
"Severe weather is not expected, though a few storms could produce strong wind gusts," the weather service added. "Breezy, non-thunderstorm winds are expected areawide through early evening, with gusts between 25 and 35 mph possible."
Due to a cold front coming in overnight, there is a slight chance of a rain-snow mix after 9 p.m. Tuesday. Wednesday will be cold and sunny, with a high around 40 degrees.
Southern Wisconsin could see winds as high as 50 mph, National Weather Service says
At 11:30 a.m., NWS released a forecast update on X.
"Moderate rain showers are expected to continue northeastward" into the Milwaukee area early this afternoon, the weather service wrote. "Wind gusts up to 50 mph may occur with the stronger showers, and a few rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out."
