Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has not given up her quest to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson, demanding he either “resign” or “be vacated” after ushering through legislation to send military aid to Ukraine on Saturday.

“Mike Johnson’s speakership is over. He needs to do the right thing to resign and allow us to move forward in a controlled process. If he doesn’t do so, he will be vacated,” Greene told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on Sunday.

When Bartiromo asked why Greene did not immediately file a motion to vacate after the Ukraine vote, the congresswoman claimed she has “been responsible” with her pursuit to oust Johnson. But, she said, she will bring the motion to vacate “regardless of what Mike Johnson decides to do.”

On Saturday, Greene called Johnson a “lame duck” in an interview with reporters and referred to the Ukraine aid package as “this bullshit in here on the House floor.”

“I think every American in the country is going to be furious,” she said after stating the decided not to bring the motion to vacate this weekend because she wanted her colleagues to go home and hear from their constituents.

“The American people agree with me, and I’ve talked to them, and I’ve seen it all over. They are outraged. And what they’re saying is they don’t want to vote for Republicans anymore,” Greene told Bartiromo on Sunday.

Johnson has claimed he is unconcerned with Greene’s efforts to remove him from his position. “I don’t walk around this building being worried about a motion to vacate,” he said, according to CNN. “I have to do my job… I’ve done here what I believe to be the right thing to allow the House to work its will. And as I’ve said, you do the right thing, and you let the chips fall where they may.”

Some Democrats have signaled they will vote to keep Johnson in office if it comes to the House floor, including Reps. Ro Khanna and Jared Moskowitz.

“I disagree with Speaker Johnson on many issues and have been very critical of him. But he did the right thing here, and he deserves to keep his job until the end of this term,” Khanna said Sunday on ABC’s This Week, adding that he believes other progressive Democrats would join him in voting to protect Johnson.

“She’s not a serious legislator, quite frankly,” Moskowitz said on Fox News Sunday. “That’s why I think the way we’ve been treating her now is she is Putin’s special envoy to Congress.”
