Mr & Mrs Smith will return for a second season, though lead stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine will reportedly not feature.
The Prime Video series, an adaptation of the 2005 film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, followed the titular duo (Glover and Erskine) as they embark on an espionage mission whilst posing as a married couple.
Following the slightly open-ended conclusion, it was expected that the eagerly anticipated follow-up would continue the story of Glover and Erskine's characters, but Variety has reported that the pair are not expected to return in starring roles.

The report hasn't been confirmed by either of the stars nor by the production company, though the head of Amazon MGM Studios, Jennifer Salke, did release a statement which read: "We are excited to announce that a second season of our ground-breaking spy series, Mr and Mrs Smith, is in the works for our global Prime Video customers.
"The success of the first season, with its incredibly modern, sexy reinvention of the original film, is a testament to the brilliant creators Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane. We are proud to bring you another season filled with unforgettable journeys and new adventures."
Glover will continue in his co-creator role alongside Sloane, who spoke about the prospect of a second season following the final episode, saying: "I think that there's definitely a lot more story to tell here. I think that we definitely feel like this is a fully satisfied story if it were to just live on its own."

"But it definitely has more legs to keep going. The entire season is attempting to subvert the genre while still being really satisfying to people who love the movie. I think [they] will be incredibly pleased with the way that our finale wraps up. I feel like we've really earned the finale in terms of its gloriousness," she added.
"I also feel like people who have never even heard of the original IP will watch that and feel like it is a well-rounded, exciting, shoot-'em-up romance with a really interesting ending – it's something that will have a lot of people talking."
