MPD: Search for man who beat driver unconscious after crash

MEMPHIS, Tenn. –Police say a driver was beaten unconscious after he got into a car accident at a Raleigh gas station Sunday.

According to witnesses at the Marathon on Austin Peay Highway, the victim ran into a black Dodge Ram and was attacked by the driver.

A witness said the victim apologized and offered to pay for the damages, but the driver of the truck demanded money from the victim, threatened to kill him, and began punching him.

Investigators said the first punch knocked the victim to the ground, and he was hit at least two more times. They said the injuries to the victim were so severe he had to be hospitalized.

MPD released pictures of the suspect, who is facing a charge of aggravated assault.
