“I swore it was firecrackers,” one neighbor said.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, the victim who was hit is a mother. She was sitting on her porch when the shots rang out. Two of her daughters spoke to News Center 7′s Mike Campbell about what happened.

“They just started shooting and then my mom, she was sitting on the porch and we ran inside,” one daughter, who wanted to remain anonymous, said. “And we ran inside and then next thing you know, she said, ‘I got shot. I got shot in the leg.’”

One of the woman’s neighbors leaped into action after getting his own kids inside safely.

“I didn’t want her to wait for an ambulance,” the neighbor, who also asked to remain anonymous, said. “I’m right there, so I rushed her to the hospital.”
