Mother drowns after incident in Cowley County creek

COWLEY COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — A 35-year-old woman died after being pulled from Grouse Creek in Cowley County.

Around 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, deputies and EMS were sent to the 31000 block of 141st Road for a woman and child stranded in the water.

Rescuers found and pulled Sarah Ouellet from the water and began live-saving measures on her. They found her son hanging onto a tree limb downstream and pulled him to safety.

Driver loses consciousness, causes crash in east Wichita

The two were rushed to a hospital, where the mother died. The son is recovering.
