Most Whimsical Knitters Ever Make Ashtrays, Teapots Out of Yarn
When she’s not making yarn clones of her son, knitter Marieke Voorsluijs crafts up some serious whimsy.
Voorsluijs, along with co-founder Barbara Lohnen, owns a Dutch knitting supply store called Club Geluk. The two wool experts have knitted everyday objects into beautiful still lifes.
As you might expect from a woman who’d knit a doppelgänger of her own son, the items in each still life create a quirky juxtaposition — for example, a burger sitting next to a saw cutting a log.
What makes the project especially great is how the two knitters capture even the smallest object, like a cocktail umbrella. This is an impressive feat that was obviously time-consuming.
